Côté staff met with Minnow Environmental and community members for an update on the hatchery

Mattagami First Nation fish hatchery in action!

December 19, 2024

Côté Gold has long been a proud supporter of the Mattagami First Nation fish hatchery, a community-led sustainability initiative designed to protect local fish populations in Mattagami Lake. Producing approximately 1,000,000 fry annually, the fish hatchery continues to be a success story and a model for sustainability initiatives. The hatchery helps boost walleye populations by improving egg survival rates through the releasing of live fry into suitable habitat. The hatchery includes a micro-hatchery at the Mattagami Elementary School, where youth participate in incubating eggs and releasing fry into Mattagami Lake, providing a valuable educational experience.

Côté Gold team members recently attended Mattagami Lake Week where they heard updates on the hatchery’s progress.
