On August 2nd, 2024, Côté Gold announced that it had reached commercial production. This marks a pivotal moment, meaning the mine now consistently operates at over 60% of its full production potential. This accomplishment is particularly remarkable given that the first gold pour occurred only a few months ago! With this milestone secured, we hope to close out 2024 with a production rate of 90%. A huge congratulations to everyone involved!
We’ve seen impressive productivity improvements in our mining operations thanks to refined practices such as double-side loading with two CAT 6060 hydraulic shovels. Also, we successfully mined 10.5 million of tonnes in the second quarter alone!
Our milling and leaching circuits have been operating at design capacity, and we’ve successfully commissioned the gravity circuits this quarter.
We will also systematically replace liners and areas of high wear with abrasive-resistant materials, adjust balance and sizing to enhance screening performance and improve dust management and overall operating practices.
Looking ahead, we have plans for technical studies to advance metallurgical testing and explore mining and infrastructure alternatives. These studies will help us evaluate the potential inclusion of the Gosselin deposit in a future Côté Gold Life of Mine plan.
We are taking big steps on our biodiversity journey this year at IAMGOLD. With the help of spatial mapping experts, we have carried out detailed biodiversity assessments at each of our sites to understand our impacts and dependencies on nature. This work will give us a “biodiversity baseline”, which will help us understand the work we need to do to reach our biodiversity goals.
We look forward to sharing our roadmap with you in early 2025.
